How and when we found out!

Patrick and I found out that I was pregnant on December 13th, 2006. Actually, when I say "we," I guess I really mean "I." It was just a few days before the last part of my written national boards and Patrick had taken the dogs to Alpharetta so that I could have a few quiet days to study. A few days before the 13th, I started thinking that it would be so awesome if I was pregnant...we could tell our parents for Christmas and tell our friends while I was home on break...but, I knew the chance was slim to none (long story). But, the idea of possibly being pregnant was distracting my studying. I decided to take a pregnancy test that night, that way I could just forget about the possibility of being pregnant. (I knew it was going to be negative, but I just needed the proof so my brain could focus). So, I went to move the test to the sink, not thinking that it had been long enough to get a result....and there it was. It actually said "Pregnant!" I was instantly shocked and covered my dropped jaw with my hand. Of course, I started crying...and saying, "Oh my God" over and over. Then I laughed....and cried some more. All the while, I was BY MYSELF!!! I couldn't believe it. Patrick had just left the night before, and it was going to be 3 more days until I saw him!! (I found out on a Wednesday night and wasn't going home to see Patrick until after I finished my boards...on Saturday)! I knew I didn't want to tell him over the phone...so, I had to wait. OH MY GOODNESS!! What was I thinking?! So, the next day, I really tried to focus and study. Well, I failed miserably. It was then that I realized there would be absolutely no more studying for me. So, I gave myself projects...how was I going to tell everyone?! So, I bought onesies, bibs, picture frames that said "Daddy" and "I love my aunt." I got Patrick and bib that said "I love my Daddy" and a frame that said "Daddy," and I put a picture of the pregnancy test in it. I wrapped it up in a tiny little box and planned on giving it to him right I saw him on Saturday. I had 2 onesies monogrammed with "Baby Kindregan" for the parents. And for Sarah, I had a picture of the pregnancy test in a frame that said "I love my aunt."

Somehow, I got through the next few days, took my boards, and rushed home (by the way, for those of you who are wondering, I actually did pass my boards)! When I saw Patrick I tried to play it cool. I think it worked because when I told him that I had an early Christmas gift for him, and tossed him the little box, he opened it without a second thought. When he saw what was in the box, he must have thought for a split second that I was kidding...but then I said I was 5 weeks pregnant. He was totally shocked (remember the slim to none chance of being pregnant??- yeah, he was shocked). I don't think it sunk in right away...it took a few hours, but then he started to get excited. Later that night, we told our parent's and Sarah- first his parents and Sarah, then mine! It was so much fun telling them and seeing everyone's reaction. I wish I had good news like that to give all the time!

So, that's how it all happened. Believe it or not, I actually left out many details...lucky you. :) So, now you know! I'll post again soon!
